Nelly Isupova is an Ukrainian ceramist-artist, art gallerist and the mother of 2 renowned young artists Sergei and Ilya Isupov. At 74, she is presenting her sculptures of human-headed birds, simple-heart animals, tea-pots with unrealistic constructions, angels and funny people, to the Parisian public.
Using the technique of majolica, she is modeling colorful clay-sculptures that bring you her energy and the fantasy of her own world, with spontaneious intuition and harmony, her moto.
In the nineties, together with 3 other artists, she created an alliance and an art gallery called “Triptykh” in the heart of Kiev. This played an important role in the development of the popularity of applied art in Ukraine, particularly ceramics.
Her work can be seen in Paris at Espace Culturel de l’Ambassade d’Ukraine, 22 avenue de Messine, Paris 8e, until June 30th, 2012.
